Baroness Scott visits unique veterans’ project

Baroness Scott, Leader of Wiltshire Council visited the site of the former Erskine Barracks to check progress on the UK’s first housing and enterprise hub for returning veterans.

The project, by Our Enterprise, is transforming the site in Wilton into the first purpose built community based campus for service veterans.

It will include homes for returning veterans and an innovative enterprise hub to help them launch their own businesses.

The enterprise hub will offer training and help for veterans to launch their own businesses and will sit alongside facilities for up to 60 other businesses.

Building work is due to start on the project in the summer with the first veterans moving in in July 2017.

Baroness Scott of Bybrook OBE, Leader of Wiltshire Council said: “I was delighted to spend the morning with the OE team, learning more about this very exciting project.

“The combined offer at this site of affordable housing, alongside training education and enterprise support will help provide veterans with plenty of opportunities to integrate into civilian communities in an area which will be familiar to them and supportive of them.”
