Our Enterprise appoint new Operations Manager

Development specialist Our Enterprise has appointed an operations manager to help oversee the UK’s first housing development and enterprise hub for veterans.

Sue Harper has taken up the position on the Our Wilton project and will be responsible for liaising with contractors, veterans and the public on the scheme.

She will also be developing relationships with prospective partners and ensuring that the project is fully integrated into the community.

Our Wilton will be the UK’s first housing development which will create homes and training, support and enterprise opportunities for veterans.

The project will transform the former Erskine Barracks in Wiltshire into a purpose built community based campus for service veterans with homes and an innovative enterprise hub.

Redrow Homes are partnering with Our Enterprise on the project and are building 292 private homes.

Sue previously worked for the civil service in Wiltshire for nine years as a senior community development worker, working alongside army personnel and their families.

She also had two years experience leading the Military Civilian Integration Team across the whole of the South West, working closely with local authorities and the third sector.

Among her priorities are building a web presence via social media to reach the returning veterans and make them aware of the project and reach out to similar projects in UK and abroad.

Sue has been in the position for ten weeks and has already established important connections with relevant charities and fundraisers to help make the Our Wilton project possible.

Sue said: “It was really exciting to be approached by Our Enterprise for this role as the whole team is so passionate about the project.

“I feel as though I can now take advantage of the network I have built up over 11 years of experience working in Wiltshire and transfer it into this fantastic new development.

“There are so many opportunities available for the project and one of the challenges of my role is make sure all the ideas fall into place once the build is complete and the community is functioning.

“Making sure the whole community is sustainable is of the upmost importance within my role and this is done by making the key connections early on.

“What I have loved about the job so far is how much enthusiasm there is for the project. It is the first of its kind in the UK yet the support we’ve had for this innovative idea has been staggering.

“We are already in discussions with three charities, Alabaré, The Warrior Programme and X Forces, who are reach in a position to provide unique support to the veterans who will be living in Our Wilton.

“I love that I am working with people who really believe in this project and I can’t wait to see the final outcome.”
